I’m going to tell you right now that the only thing that the stuff in the can is good for is getting you stoned for a few seconds, other than that it’s bullshit. If you’re going to take the time to make a dessert and want to top it with whipped cream, you better make it yourself. You are not a poser!
If you have a Stand mixer it’s super easy, if you do it by hand you have to be a bit more persistent and learn to make friends with your whisk. The great thing about making this yourself is that you can adjust the flavor and sweetness to suit and compliment the dish you are serving it with.
True is that you don’t have to make a sweet whipped cream, you can go savory as well and add a bit of lemon zest and top a cold smoked salmon.
What you need
- A large mixing bowl
- About a cup of heavy whipping cream
- A whisk
- Persistence
Ever heard of the term “Fluffer” in porn? It’s the person who’s job it is to get the male talent hard for a scene. This is how you make whipped cream. What you’re doing is you’re using the whisk to add air and increase the volume of the cream, to Fluff it up. Seriously, that’s really all there is to it.
If you want to make it sweet for a dessert, add about a quarter cup of Powdered Sugar and a dash of vanilla. You don’t want to add too much or the mixture won’t rise. Persistance is key and after making this once, you will understand why people spend $300 on home mixers.
