A plea for peace

A plea for peace

A whole lot of folks got really upset with the post the other day where I made it clear that I do not support or condone violence or destruction of property. Because I just wasn’t in the headspace to deal with the bullshit, I limited comments to actual fans thinking it would keep the drama to a minimum.

Apparently, a whole lot of people have been missing the point of why I do what I do and don’t think I’m a “real Anarchist” or what the fuck ever. Fine, cool, labels have never been a thing for me. It’s the whole Buddhist detachment thing I guess, and this is the same fucking reason why I’m calling for peace, now more than ever.

I’m not saying that the anger ain’t valid or justified, it 110% fucking is and I’m right there with you. I know I’m speaking from a place of privilege and I also know how many people I care about have broken down in my arms since last November. I also know that violence creates more fucking violence.

Yes, I’ve posted photos of myself flipping off Cybertrucks, I’ve got t-shirts of em on fire because they tend to do that on their own. That said, I’ve never vandalized one nor would I ever encourage or condone that kind of behavior. It’s fucking pointless. We all know Musk is a piece of shit but damaging someone elses property like that doesn’t fix a fucking thing, it doesn’t put energy into the solution. In fact, the only thing it does is make headlines that make good people fighting for justice look like deranged fucking idiots. If I make an exception for cybertrucks, what’s next? All Teslas? VWs?? Henry Ford was one the biggest racist cunts in history so is that fair game? Make sense?

No, I can’t be at the protests tomorrow in person, I wish I could but I still can’t walk more than a few blocks thanks to a sprained ankle. But I was at the Protests in Oakland 5 years ago and my city did not burn. The Protests where tense as fuck, scary and I had my nose against a police shield on the front line, but it wasn’t violent, we didn’t destroy our communities. From my experience, 98% of the people there were there for the right reasons; it was the other 2% that caused a problem.

That’s what fucking scares me right now.

They’re emboldened and angry and are going to be out in force doing everything in their power to provoke good people to react. We can’t, we have too much at stake right now. We have to be smart, we have to be unified, we have to take care of each other as much as possible.

In no fucking way am I telling anyone to lay down and take it, I’m saying to be fucking smart. If you plan on going to the protests and throwing bricks, you’re not one of the good guys. If you plan on showing up and letting these bastards know that we’re going to stand together and stop this bullshit, awesome. If you plan of setting shit on fire, you’re not fixing anything.

Listen, I’m Scottish as fuck

My temper has gotten me in a whole lot of trouble and as a result, a lot of good people have been hurt because I couldn’t keep my cool. Yeah, there’s been a few times that it’s saved my ass but looking back, losing my shit made things worse in an overwhelming number of situations. If you think that I’m not fucking furieous right now, you’re out of your God damned mind. If you think I’m not scared for the people I love, you don’t fucking know me at all.

I don’t have the answers, I’m a Chef, not a military strategist. Never did I think that things would get this bad and I’m praying daily, trying to find both faith and answers. One thing I do know is that violence leads to more violence and it’s a slippery slope down the side of a really shitty mountain.

Fear and anger are emotions, very powerful emotions that can take over even the most rational person. Right now, they are in ample supply. But it’s just energy.

I’ve trained in various Martial Arts over the years but the one that I keep going back to is Aikido. For those who don’t know anything about this, it doesn’t have any attacks. The guy who founded the style was a madman who had trained under some of the best in the world and after seeing the horrors of World War 2, had an awakening. There’s no punching, there’s no spin kicks or any of that. Its primary focus is to use your attacker’s energy against them to neutralize them. It teaches you to blend with them and redirect the momentum. In order to do so, you have to keep your cool and stay centered and focused.

This is the fucking mindset we need to have.

They’re going to try to drive us to chaos and we need to rise and stay cool and find a way to blend and redirect their energy. We need to keep our center and stay on balance and be fucking smart. That anger, that rage, that fear you’re feeling is justified but it’s just energy. If you let it control you, good people will continue to get hurt, if you separate yourself from the energy, you can direct it in a way that will actually benefit the cause.

I love you folks, I’m sure of that. I don’t want to see anyone get hurt, I don’t want to watch good people suffer and yes, we must take action but we have to be smart about it. If you’re at the protests, I am pleading with you, don’t give into the rage, take a breath, find your center and trust your heart to do what’s right in the moment.
