So, I’ve had this idea for a while and at first I thought I was just high and being delusional. After the past few weeks it’s made me think that maybe it’s not so radical after all. No, I don’t have the details and I’m sure there is a lot of room for error but follow me for a minute….
We get rid of either the Congress or the Senate and replace it with citizens, picked at random by a lottery or draft system.
Here’s the thing, I trust my neighbors a hell of a lot more than I trust politicians who are rarely affected by the laws they pass. When they are, it’s normally a bonus or tax break. The point is, these people are supposed to work for us and they have failed.
My idea is that anyone who is over 21, a citizen with no violent or sex crimes is on the list. If you get called, you have to put your life on hold for four years to serve and represent your area but, you’re taken care of both while you serve and afterwards with some kind of pension. This would allow the voice of the people to be heard.
Oh wait, there’s more.
The kicker would be that this new group would have to pass any and all laws. Follow me, the president could pass something and Congress could clear it but it would have to be voted on by the new Senate for it to become law. The new Senate and Congress could vote something into law and the new Senate could team up with the president and pass a bill. But the new Senate, composed of real citizens, would always have the final say. This would prevent the new Senate from being bullied by the old government and career politicians.
Think about it from a culinary standpoint.
We have a bunch of idiots in the Kitchen with kush jobs, private jets and health care and all the do is fuck up. Now, our customers, the people they’re supposed to be taking care of, are rioting and trying to burn down the fucking restaurant.
You can’t really blame em for being pissed off either, but we have to do something to fix this shit and we need to do it now. The lobbies have gotten out of hand, corruption and misconduct is so common it provokes humor instead of outrage. No matter how you look at it, America was never great to begin with but it has the potential to live up to the hype.
We’ve blindly trusted these people for years to lead us and take care of us. Time and time and time again, they have repeatedly ignored the cries of the masses. They’ve turned a blind eye to the common citizen and instead, tried to turn us against each other so we’d be brainwashed to think we need them to protect us from ourselves.
We can do better.
I’m not saying it’s a perfect idea but if we’re talking about defunding police, we might as well continue to clean house. I don’t want to see chaos and violence, I’ve made that very clear, but I do want to see change before this gets worse.
Oh, and we need to seriously start taxing churches. I’ll rant about it later but trust me, these motherfuckers are in my sights.
